Flag Companies - Annin Flag Company
In the 1820s, signal flags for ships were made in a downtown New York City sail loft. Today that company is Annin & Company. They are the #1 largest flag manufacturer in both American and the world. They make all types of flags - over 10,000 different flags and accessories. The main item is the American Flag.
Annin has four manufacturing places – New York, New Jersey, Ohio, and Virginia. All Annin flags are made from American materials and are made in the USA.
Annin flags have been used in sporting events, Presidential inaugurations, Apollo moon missions, and special expeditions like the climb up to the top of Mount Everest (National Geographic Society), and the flights over the North and South Poles (Richard E. Byrd), and the expedition to the North Pole (Robert E. Peary).
Some people believe that the flag Neil Armstrong left on the moon was a flag made by Annin (but NASA won't confirm this). Click here to learn more about the first flag on the moon.
