On December 12, 2003, our class did a Taste Test on Tastykake Snak Bars. Seven students and 4 staff participated. We sampled 5 different Snak Bars. They were: Iced Apple Cinnamon, Chocolate Chip, Iced Fudge, Oatmeal Raisin, and Iced Oatmeal Raisin. We also wanted to sample Strawberry, but we could not find it at any stores. We think it might be a seasonable product. It may be available in spring and summer.
The students were asked to use adjectives to describe the Snak Bars. Lori thought the Snak Bars were moist. Julie said they were yummy and sweet. Megan thought the Iced Fudge bar was "chocolatey". Steven said the Snak Bars were gooey! Kyle and Tommy thought the bars tasted like cookies.
After taste testing the different kinds, staff and students voted on their favorites. The results:
#1 Chocolate Chip (6 votes)
#2 Iced Apple Cinnamon (4 votes) #3 tie between Iced Fudge and Oatmeal Raisin (1 vote each) Iced Oatmeal Raisin received no votes
We all really enjoyed participating in this taste test. Kyle helped prepare the bite size portions, and Speech and Language specialist, Jenn Drucis, assisted students in using descriptive language. Here's what was said about each flavor:
Iced Apple Cinnamon: tastes like applecake, tastes like apple pie, moist, fresh, sweet, hint of nutmeg
Chocolate Chip: moist, yummy, sweet, just like a cookie, doughy, gooey
Iced Fudge: smooth, chocolatey, like a chocolate candy, like a brownie, sweeter
Oatmeal Raisin: yummy, tasty, like a soft oatmeal cookie, doughy, soft, hint of cinnamon, fingerlicking good
Iced Oatmeal Raisin: delicious, very icy, very yummy, cookie-like, like a raisin cookie, doughy
