Our Project . . . 4-H Clubs
The 4-H is an Educational Program for young people. Clubs of this kind were started in the early 1900s by the public school educators who wanted to broaden the knowledge, skills and experience of students.
In a 4-H Club there are usually 5 or more young people led by 1 or more adult volunteers.
The 4-H uses a learn-by-doing approach to enable young people to become capable and contributing citizens of the world.
Young people in 4-H Clubs work on one or more projects such as:
- gardening
- food and nutrition
- small animals
- karate
- bicycle training
- health
- first aid
- short-term service projects and activities related to the needs of the community
They also participate in tours, camps, exhibits and fairs.
4-H Club members in New Jersey and nearby states can also volunteer to raise Seeing Eye puppies. They can help educate the community about the Seeing Eye dogs and the laws pertaining to the blind.
4-H Clubs are for all young people, whereever they live (farms, cities or suburbs).
4-H Clubs are in all states in the United States and in more than 80 countries around the world.
