Reflections

Here are some students' thoughts following the assembly and interview session with Greyhound Friends, Inc.:

If I was in the hospital I would like to pet the dogs because I like the dogs. I feel happy when I see the dogs. I would like to be a pet therapist because I like working with dogs and people. I feel happy and excited when I get to help people. I would take one home with me because I like puppies. (Nellie)

If I were in the hospital I would not like a greyhound in my face while I'm sleeping, but I would like to see the greyhound when I wake up. I would like to be a pet therapy dog because it would be a good thing to help other people. (Melissa)

They are nice dogs. I feel good when I see animals. I like to pet them. If I were a dog, I think it would be hard to do pet therapy. There are some people who don't like the dogs. (Michael)

If I were in the Hospital I would definitely love to have a greyhound dog come and visit me 'cause greyhound dogs are more helpful, more friendly, easy to get along with. They're very sweet, nice, fun to be with. I feel happy when I see dogs. I like dogs that are well trained. I would love to be a pet therapist because dogs are very interesting. (Christian)

If I was sick or disabled in anyway, I would like to have a greyhound as a pet therapist. It will make me very happy to have the dog around me. If I was a pet therapist, it would be not so hard to take care of the dog, but it will make people happy to see the dog coming down to see them. (Scott)

I felt happy when the dogs came and visited me. I would like to be a pet therapy dog because I like to help with people. (Matt)

I love having the dogs come and visit us. I would like it to happen again. The people have to like animals and the animals like to be walked and I'm talking about dogs. The dogs like to play with humans . . . (Kevin)

It was very cool because I felt relaxed and learned a lot . . . As I pet the dogs, I had a really good feeling inside of me . . . therapy animals that are so gentle to both the young and the elderly. The greyhounds that I saw were very friendly. (Robin)

I especially enjoyed interacting with the greyhounds. Now I know more about greyhounds and how they change a person's life. (Peter)
